So that you might understand a little bit more about The Cheesemakers , where we're coming from and where we might be going , here are a few influences and things that are up our strasse .

This will get updated periodically , cos we're no one horse pony !

First of all , I best try and explain where some of the lyrics come from - what does it mean ? in fact . Although it may seem this way , the lyrics aren't just random mentalisms

WORDS FROM THE FRONT
The graphic to the left is a perfect example of where parts of our lyrics may come from . This is a Japanese gift which is kind of bamboozled by the use of language and these are the type of things I leap on from great heights - not pandas , I must say ( never tried it ) .
The key is when you see or hear one of these mad phrases or sentences , write em down or just remember them until you can , then build an entire song around it . It's amazing what you can come up with once you have that one line . Keep your eyes peeled and if you see anything you think may be suitable for Cheesemakers content , slip it to me !
HESH & THE FEAR OF CLOWNS
Although never technically credited for it , Hesh is a major player in the lyric writing process within the band . The songs are always creditted simply to The Cheesemakers on the CDs and this is to give everyone credit for what they input into each song , but Hesh's contributions to the words are vital .

Hesh comes up with the most bizarre phrases and themes for no real apparent reason .It's usually something he uses in conversation for a period of time and then replaces with another . For instance - 'These Things Happen' , 'Fear The Clown' , 'Never Liked Him' . These are all phrases well endowed in Cheesemakers folklore . The man's input into the new songs that will appear on the album in the spring is immense . Two new songs in particular - 'Leicester' & 'The Circle Of A Circus Ring' .

Watch that man !

ADAM & THE ANTZ

When they waz fab !
Not particularly a lyric thing but amuch broader influence is the music of early Adam & The Antz . Notice the 'z' , this means I'm talkign about the punk incarnation , well before all the stage costumes and expensive videos . The Antz , which featured a completely different line-up ( bar Adam ) to the one you see on your TV screens , were an extremely exhilerating act , playing mad shows and releasing this fantastic LP before chart hits took over .

It's not just the music that was a big buzz either , their imagery was as strong as any band of that period . Dealing in only monochrome , the groups image was solid throughout . Right from single/LP sleeves to t-shirt design to badges and onto headed paper , the whole lot was b/w to the bone and all carried images along the same lines of bondage/fetishism etc , usually drawn by Adam's multi talented hand . I must point out that I have no interest in the physicality of afore-mentioned rubber/leather stuff but merely the strong message the imagery puts out . As Adam more famously mentioned later 'Ridicule is nothing to be scared of' . The message that went over the majority of people's heads was - Just Be Yourself .

And that folks , is what we do . Regardless of trends or expectations , The Cheesemakers do as they please and we've been around a lot longer than jam and buttered fingers :-)

More influenza soon . Check out early Adam & The Antz info and images at the official site : www.adam-ant.net - CLICK ALBUM GRAPHIC TO THE LEFT . The link to the old stuff is on the front page there . Well worth a look over
